For ensuring safety and wellness during the pandemic, the Aboitiz-owned Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) here has been certified as a safe workplace and business establishment.
On Wednesday, the Cotabato Light announced that the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE)- Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and the Cotabato City government have separately issued safety seal certificates to the Aboitiz firm following a thorough site inspection and submission of documentary requirements.
The safety seal certifications recognized Cotabato Light for its compliance with health protocol requirements set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to curb the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
It is a voluntary certification scheme that guarantees that an establishment is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government and uses or integrates its contact tracing tool.
On Sept. 14, Minister Romeo Sema of MOLE-BARMM granted the safety seal certificate to Cotabato Light, while Leah Ebita-Villajuan, the city’s business permit and licensing division head, issued the same on Sept. 7.
Anna Lea Nataño, the head of Cotabato Light human resources division, both received the certificates on behalf of the power firm.
In a statement, Valentin S. Saludes III, Cotabato light president and chief operations officer, said their firm will continue to do its duties in its assigned areas of operation amid the pandemic.
“With the threat of Covid-19 still looming around, we strictly adhere to government regulations and protocols on minimum health standards,” Saludes said.
Cotabato Light supplies energy to this city, and parts of the neighboring towns of Datu Din Sinsuat and Sultan Kudarat, both in Maguindanao.
Earlier in July, the power firm has also been recognized and commended, by the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy – BARMM for being compliant with the major Philippine environmental laws, rules, and regulations.
