Biliran, Southern Leyte bars entry of LSIs for 2 weeks

The regional inter-agency task force on emerging infectious diseases (RIATF) passed a resolution suspending the return of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) to the province of Biliran and Southern Leyte.

The two provinces requested for a moratorium due to increasing cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) that has crowded their quarantine facilities. The 14-day moratorium started on June 9.

The travel suspension applies to all LSIs but is not applicable to those who are already in transit at the time of the issuance of the resolution, the RIATF said in its resolution posted on Monday.

Authorized persons outside their residence are also not covered by the moratorium, including repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) or returning OFWs who have completed their 14-day mandatory quarantine as certified by the Bureau of Quarantine.

The moratorium also does not cover LSIs who are in transit to other local government units.

Both provinces are now under general community quarantine (GCQ) from modified GCQ after the RIATF issued a resolution reverting the quarantine status of the region due to increases of Covid-19.
