At least 144 personnel of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), along with their dependents, availed of booster shots against the coronavirus virus disease 2019 (Covid-19) during the vaccination drive held at the headquarters’ chapel from January 13 to 14.
Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, city police director, thanked the city government for providing the vaccine supply.
“With the BCPO personnel immune to the virus, infections are expected to be minimized and the spread of the virus can be stopped,” Martir said in a statement on Saturday.
To date, there is no active Covid-19 case among the ranks of the city police.
Martir noted that vaccination is vital for police officers who, as front-liners, are always at risk of infection.
Vaccine recipients mainly received AstraZeneca for their booster shots during the two-day campaign held in coordination with the Emergency Operations Center Task Force under the supervision of the City Health Office.
The BCPO team of medical personnel, composed of registered nurses, administered the shots to their colleagues.
Lt. Liberty Indiape, BCPO deputy public information officer, said aside from the 144 vaccine recipients in the past two days, other personnel were also able to receive booster shots in separate schedules.
