Another Pangasinan town shifts to MECQ until Oct. 3

This municipality is now under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from Sept. 20 to Oct. 3 to curb the increasing coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

This was after Pangasinan Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) chairperson Governor Amado Espino III granted the town’s request to shift from general community quarantine with heightened restrictions to MECQ.

In a statement issued on Monday, the San Jacinto Public Information Office (PIO) said entertainment venues, recreational venues and amusement parks are prohibited during the MECQ period.

Indoor contact sports, outdoor contact sports, indoor fitness gyms or spas, casinos, and cockfighting are also prohibited.

Selling of alcoholic beverages, videoke or karaoke, and walking during funerals are also not allowed, the PIO stated.

Indoor dine-in services in food or beverages preparation commissaries, restaurants, and eateries or carinderias are not allowed, but take out or delivery is permitted as well as outdoor dining at 30 percent of the venue capacity only, it added.

Other business establishments that are allowed to operate under MECQ of up to 30 percent of their venue capacity.

“Individual outdoor exercises such as outdoor walks, jogging, running or biking, are allowed within the general area of their residences like within the barangay,” the PIO said.

A market schedule is also being implemented while only one person per household is permitted to go out of their homes to access essential goods and services, except for authorized persons outside of residence.

Mass gatherings are also prohibited while religious gatherings will be limited to 10 percent of the venue capacity, and attending virtual mass is encouraged instead, the PIO said.

“Eighteen years old and below, 65 years old and above, pregnant women and other persons at risk are not allowed to go out of their residences,” the PIO stated.

A ‘no movement day’ will be implemented every Sunday during the MECQ period to give way to the disinfection of public places in the town.

As of Sept. 18, San Jacinto recorded 199 recoveries out of the total 290 cases with 78 active cases and 13 deaths.

Mangaldan town was earlier placed under MECQ from Sept. 15 to 28.
