Advisory council, DSWD partnership extended until year-end

The Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC) extended its support to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) until the end of the year to enable the agency to sustain quality public service.

The MSGC consists of external stakeholders and partners under the leadership of newly elected chair, Maria Fe Mendoza, of the University of the Philippines – National College of Public Administration and Governance, and vice chair, Rommel Fuerte, a director of humanitarian organization World Vision.

The council monitors DSWD’s performance and assists in utilizing resources and creating networks to keep the agency’s goals and objectives moving forward.

The DSWD announced on Tuesday that the MSGC and all member-organizations committed their full support until Dec. 31, 2021 to ensure the continuity of action plans and the smooth implementation of programs and services.

“As part of the council’s commitment, the MSGC assisted DSWD in paving the way for the transition of devolving specific programs to the local government units through its contribution in the development of the Manual of Operations for devolved programs,” the agency said in a statement, adding that the manual makes programs more responsive to the needs at the community level.

The MSGC assists in the DSWD Recalibrated Strategy and SULONG Recovery Plan, which aims to mitigate the socio-economic impact of Covid-19 and other natural disaster and human-induced hazards.

DSWD Undersecretary Danilo Pamonag said he is grateful to the MSGC and hoped it would continue to be the Department’s partner in the shared goal to institute development and uplift the lives of the poor, vulnerable, and the marginalized.

“With the sustained collaboration of the Department and the MSGC, the Department will be able to consistently provide maagap at mapagkalingang serbisyo (prompt and care services),” Pamonag said in a statement.
