In a report, the DOH-13 said the region has a total of 100 active Covid-19 cases as of Thursday.

It said Caraga only had 66 active cases on Monday, but double-digit increases in the succeeding days caused the number of active cases to rise to 100.

On Thursday alone, the DOH-13 said 26 new infections were recorded, increasing the cumulative total number of confirmed cases to 49, 303 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The province of Surigao del Sur logged the highest number of infections on Thursday with 13 cases, ten of which were in the towns of Hinatuan, two in Tago, and one in Barobo.

The DOH-13 has reiterated its call to unvaccinated residents in the region to avail themselves of the free vaccination program of the government to impede the spread of the virus.

As of January 5, the agency said a total of 1,059,792 residents in the Caraga Region are fully vaccinated.
