94% of Covid-19 deaths in Zambo City unvaxxed individuals

At least 1,019 individuals or 94 percent of the 1,084 people who died here due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) were unvaccinated.

This was according to Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, as she renewed on Tuesday calls for residents to get vaccinated against the sickness.

The remaining 65 in the death count received their vaccines.

Among the active cases, Miravite said 86 patients representing 61 percent of the 140 active cases were unvaccinated, while the remaining 54 were inoculated.

“Let us take the opportunity in the conduct of the ‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’ to get ourselves vaccinated for protection against Covid-19,” Miravite said.

This as the Department of Health (DOH) rescheduled the second round of its “Bayanihan Bakunahan” here from December 15 to 17, to December 20 until December 22 due to tropical cyclone Odette.

The Zamboanga Task Force Covid-19 data tracker showed that the city has so far logged a cumulative 22,443 confirmed cases with 21,218 recoveries, 140 active cases, and 1,085 deaths as of December 13.

Miravite said they will activate 38 vaccination centers during the three-day National Vaccination Days (NVD).

Miravite said their goal is to vaccinate a total of 20,112 individuals during the second round of the NVD activity.
