196 new police officers ready for peace, poll duties

Almost 200 new police non-commissioned officers (NCOs) are ready for election duties after completing their six-month on-the-job training (OJT) in various police stations in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)

In a statement Friday, Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, BARMM police director, said the 196 police officers belong to the Police Specialized Field Training Program (PSFTP) “Masiklab” Class 2020-03.

“These police officers were also trained to perform election duties ahead of next year’s balloting,” Ugale said.

He said the OJT program was aimed at providing comprehensive guidelines and structured learning content to facilitate the NCOs’ transition from an academic setting to field training where they experienced actual street exposure accompanied by field problems, patrol situations, investigations, and crime incidents.

“Their exposure was the most effective training method as they prepare to serve in the real world of policing,” Ugale said.

The “Masiklab” batch graduation was held inside the Police Regional Office – BARMM in Parang, Maguindanao on Thursday afternoon.

During the graduation rites, Ugale lauded the police officers for completing the program.

He reiterated that as they perform their mandated task, they must put into practice the learning they gained during their training.

“Your responsibility to preserve peace and order is now at course. Each moment of your life from now until the day of your retirement, you will need to spend it to heed calls for emergencies and disasters,” Ugale said.

He emphasized that being police officers, their lives are now devoted to the service of the people.

The BARMM covers the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi; the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi; and the 63 villages in six towns of North Cotabato province.
