1.7K Kidapawan indigents benefit from DSWD livelihood grant

A total of 1,700 indigent residents here on Friday received a livelihood assistance grant (LAG) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development–Region 12 (Soccsksargen) in partnership with the city government.

Mayor Joseph Evangelista said all recipients were from the underprivileged and vulnerable sectors of the city affected by the continuing pandemic.

Each beneficiary received cash ranging from PHP6,000 to PHP15,000, as capital depending on their selected micro-businesses identified in their prerequisite requirements as validated by the DSWD-12.

“Utilize this amount of money to start your micro-investment to act on the effect of this pandemic crisis”, Evangelista said.

The DSWD has allocated some PHP16-million for the LAG program, which aims to help poor residents survive the weight of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

The DSWD-2 and the city government scheduled the simultaneous pay-out in several areas here including Barangay Balindog covered court, Kidapawan Pilot Elementary School, City Hall Mega Tent, Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces Gymnasium, and the Barangay Poblacion covered court.

Strict health protocols were observed during the LAG distribution in compliance with the city’s general community quarantine status.
