Ilocos Norte Capitol undergoes massive disinfection

Work at the Provincial Capitol building was temporarily halted on Thursday afternoon to give way for a massive cleanup and disinfection of all its offices.

After covering office computers and other essential documents with plastic, Capitol workers went home early after a female employee was confirmed positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The latest case, tagged as IN-C187, is a 45-year-old resident of Barangay 49-B Raraburan, Laoag City who has been admitted to a hospital after experiencing symptoms of Covid-19.

To prevent the spread of the virus, Major Roxanne Parado, head of the Covid-19 Ilocos Norte Central Operation Office, advised those who had been in close contact with her to isolate themselves while waiting for their scheduled swab testing.

“The office will be temporarily locked down while contact tracing is in progress,” Parado said.

To date, Ilocos Norte has recorded a total of 187 cases with 130 recoveries and two deaths.

People have been reminded to cooperate with local authorities and always observe minimum health protocols.
