Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo on Tuesday assumed as the new director of the Police Regional Office in Region 7 (PRO-7) or Central Visayas.
Montejo was installed in a ceremony at Camp Sergio Osmeña here, replacing former PRO-7 director Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro.
Montejo is the former director of the Quezon City Police District while Ferro is set to be promoted to a higher rank.
Ferro was appointed as PRO-7 director last Feb. 6.
Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, deputy chief for administration at the Philippine National Police (PNP), led the turnover ceremony that was also graced by Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino.
Montejo’s assignment as new regional chief of the Central Visayas police came after Philippine National Police chief, Gen. Debold Sinas, announced possible revamps under his watch.
During his term as PRO-7 director, Ferro was named an adopted son here as the city government lauded his efforts in leading the government’s anti-criminality campaign and imposing strict community quarantine measures amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
