Police arrested in Cotabato City three men reportedly belonging to prominent Moro families in Maguindanao in an anti-drugs buy-bust operation on Thursday afternoon.
In a statement, Director Juvenal Azurin of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), identified the suspects as Datu Fhai Bansuan Midtimbang alias “Fhai/King”, Desma Watamama Midtimbang alias “Des”, and Datukon Mislay Mohamad Alias “Toks”
Azurin said more or less 50 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) estimated to be worth P340,000, a licensed 9mm pistol, marked money, mobile phones, and white Honda civic (with license plate NCU-5251) were seized from the suspects in the drug bust operation at around 5:40 p.m.
The suspects reportedly agreed to sell the shabu to an undercover agent in front of St. Peter and St. Paul Episcopal Cathedral, along the national highway in Barangay Rosary Heights 9, Cotabato City.
Azurin lauded the PDEA agents and the support extended by the 1404th Regional Mobile Force company of RMFB-14 and Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU-BAR).
The suspects are now detained at the PDEA custodial facility awaiting the filing of charges of violation of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
